Dedicated to the Virgils

Virgil Park was dedicated to Diana and Hall Virgil. The Virgils spent more than 20 years converting the B&O Trail, a former rail line abandoned in1990, into a recreational trail. They inspired hundreds of volunteers and donors, spent countless hours meeting with local and state officials, wrote grant applications, and cleared limbs from the pathway. The first 1,000 feet of the B&O Trail were paved in Brownsburg in 2009. Today, the B&O Trail connects multiple communities and sees thousands of visitors each year. Thanks in part to the Virgils’ tireless efforts, Brownsburg residents are able to enjoy one of Indiana’s premier recreational trails.
