Reserve Unit
Purpose of the Program
The Reserve program was created to supplement Road Officers in an efficient and cost-effective way. Not only do Reserve Officers contribute to the patrol function of the department, but they also provide valuable services during special events.
The Brownsburg Police Reserve Unit is a highly trained, flexible, and dedicated unit that assists the police department in a variety of ways. Reserve Officers are volunteers who are selected using the same recruitment process as full-time officers. They attend a formal academy and complete an extensive field training program.
National Volunteer Week 2022
We want to acknowledge our outstanding Reserve Unit for their selfless hours they dedicate each month to our department. In addition to working full time jobs, our Reserve Officers work on average 70-80 hours a month as a Unit. They assist the Road Officers with shift coverage, special events and incidents where additional personnel are needed. Our department is very fortunate to have all of the dedicated personnel that we can count on every day. Sgt. Kim Kiritschenko supervises the Unit and has been with our agency for eleven years. Sgt. Kiritschenko is also a School Resource Officer with the Brownsburg Community School Corporation. Corporal Rob Van assist with supervision and has been with us for ten years. Cpl. Van is our most dedicated Reserve; he works on average 50 hours a month. Reserve Officer David Foust has been a Reserve Officer since 2019. Reserve Officer Aaron Smith has been with the unit since 2021. Thank you all for everything you do for the Brownsburg Police Department and the Brownsburg Community you are greatly appreciated.
If you have a desire to protect and serve this community become a Reserve Officer!
