Hendricks County Recycling District offers several ways to recycle:
Recycling Drop-off Centers: The Hendricks County Recycling District offers 24-hour drop-off sites in Coatesville and North Salem. The Lizton facility is open Tuesday 9 a.m. – 6 p.m., Wednesday 1 p.m. – 7 p.m., Thursday 9 a.m. – 6 p.m., and Saturday 9 a.m. – 3 p.m.
Tox-Away Days: For Hendricks County residents to properly recycle or dispose of chemicals, bulbs, batteries, medicines, medical sharps, tires, electronics, and more. Regulations prohibit businesses and other organizations from participating. Some fees are required for appliances, electronics, and tires. Dates and locations vary throughout the year.
Yard Waste Recycling Centers: These centers are located in Brownsburg and Plainfield and are open from April-November. Materials at these sites will become mulch and compost to be utilized again instead of becoming just another load of trash. Pricing varies based on types of yard waste.
Recycled Bags
Thanks to a grant from the Hendricks County Recycling District, the Wastewater Department handed out reusable bags made from recycled bottles during community events in 2022. As a result, we estimate a reduction of 28,184 single-use plastic bags per year from community engagement efforts in 2022.
Yard Waste
The Street Department offers free yard waste collection in the spring and fall.
