[ARCHIVED] Brownsburg Trail Rules: What You Need to Know

news-flash (11)

The Town of Brownsburg wants to remind trail users of what is permitted on the trails in Brownsburg.

Motor vehicles are not permitted on the trails. This includes driving, parking, or obstructing the trail. Also prohibited are motorized cycles, bicycles propelled solely by a motor, and motorized devices such as electric unicycles and e-scooters.

Exemptions are made for pedal-assist e-bikes, ADA-compliant personal mobility devices, and public safety or maintenance vehicles conducting official duties. All trail users are subject to a 15 mph speed limit.

Additional rules under Town Ordinance 71.90 include:

  • Hoverboards, power wheels, and other small recreational devices are permitted on the trail, provided they adhere to all trail safety rules and do not exceed fifteen (15) miles per hour.
  • Devices such as motorized wheelchairs or scooters, used by elderly or disabled persons, are permitted provided they adhere to all trail safety rules, and do not exceed fifteen (15) miles per hour at any time.
  • The maximum speed on the B&O Trail is fifteen (15) miles per hour for all users.

The trails are open from dawn to dusk. The goal of the town ordinance is the safety of all users, including pedestrians, runners, cyclists, people with strollers, and others.
